Ciao!
We’re Mario & Laura, and Sicily has shaped our lives in very different ways.
Mario is a Sicilia native and though, now Australian, remains deeply tied to his land.
Laura, through heritage, marriage and friendships formed, has come to recognise and love all that this region has to offer. Its food, its people, the seasons, and the small rhythms of daily life are what draw us back, year after year.
Over the years, we’ve shared our love of Sicily through our former businesses, and more recently Locale and Vini Cali wines - bringing people together over food, wine, and the traditions of Sicilian life. Sicilian Threads felt like the natural next step: a chance to share these experiences on the island itself.
Sicilian Threads grew from our shared love for truly experiencing the island - and to share those experiences - the way we do ourselves; slowly, intentionally, and with curiosity. We create small-group journeys that feel rich and personal - full of laughter, shared stories, surprises and the kind of insider moments you can't buy. Guided by our knowledge of the land and the people who make it special, from mornings in the vineyards to evening gelato and passeggiata, we create experiences that are lived-in rather than staged.
For us, Sicily is about connection - to the land, to the people, to food, and to the stories that have shaped it for generations. Sicily is a land of nuances and contrasts, and understanding its past is the only way to appreciate its present.
Every journey reflects our curiosity, our respect for local rhythms, and the warmth we’ve experienced here firsthand.

Our Experiences
Sicilian Threads tours are intimate, considered experiences designed for travellers who want to understand Sicily from the inside out - through its people, its seasons, and the rhythms of everyday life.
Each journey is kept small, allowing space for conversation, curiosity, and genuine connection. Days are full and immersive, moving through towns and countryside, kitchens and markets, coastlines and volcanic terrain - guided by local insight rather than rigid schedules or checklists.
These journeys are shaped by years of sharing Sicily with family and friends, and grounded in our backgrounds in hospitality, food, and wine. We focus on how the island lives: how geography, terrain, and season influence what’s grown, cooked, and celebrated - and how tradition and community continue to shape daily life.
To really know Sicily is to know its people.
And that is how we like to do it.
